Do I need a Rail Safety Management plan (RSMP)?
If advised by Arc Infrastructure / PTA Third Party Services as part of the application process to work in the rail corridor.
If you haven’t made an application to work in the rail corridor, do so as soon as possible. The approval time for significant works could be up to 3 months or more, depending on how busy Arc Infrastructure / PTA Third Party Services are.
What’s in a Rail Safety Management Plan (RSMP)?
A Rail Safety Management Plan outlines how the proposed works are to be conducted whilst meeting Arc infrastructure / PTA requirements and Australian Standards for heavy industry and mining, with a focus on the rail corridor.
What is the lead time to get a Rail Safety Management Plan (RSMP) approved?
Rail Safety Solutions can deliver a RSMP which will then be reviewed and returned to you in 2-3 weeks, depending on how busy Arc Third Party Services are. The RSMP may also require amendments which will also need to be approved.
What information do we need to provide?
An assortment of project information will be required to complete the Rail Safety Management Plan, including location, scope of works, associated equipment and machinery, ground staff details including any rail accreditations or evidence of rail corridor inductions, safety documentation such as JHA, JSA, & safe working method statements for the proposed works.
What if I don’t need a RSMP?
If you have been advised by Arc Infrastructure that your works are of a minor nature and you don’t need an RSMP, you may still require a Rail Safeworking Protection Officer when working in the rail corridor.
